Welcome to the Get A Life Campaign message boards!

The message boards are meant to be a way for GAL gals to connect, chat, and share experiences. Feel free to share and connect with other women in our different forum categories.

We want our message boards to be comfortable, thought provoking, helpful, safe, and easy to use. Our board policies are based on our belief that everyone has a right to free expression and that by talking openly with others we can all get the lives we deserve and become more well rounded.

Please note that users who violate these policies will be sent a warning and, if necessary, be banned from posting.

Forum area agreements

To participate in our forum areas you agree to the following:

a. Don't use any forum areas to buy or solicit goods, services, or money, or to advertise or sell products or services to others. Please don't post any advertising, promotional materials, referrals, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of solicitation. Don't sell, give away, or ask for prescription drugs on our boards, chats, or article comment areas — it's illegal.

* You may, however, put a one-line URL to your business in your profile or signature.

b. Don't post anything obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, illegal, harmful, insulting, threatening, abusive, harassing, humiliating, embarrassing, defamatory, libelous, untrue, invasive of someone else's privacy, or objectionable (in our sole discretion).

c. Don't post with the intent to disrupt or disturb the forum or to interfere with other members' use and enjoyment of our forum. Don't attack character or damage the reputation of other members, name-call, insult, ridicule, harass, mock, or otherwise verbally assault other members of this forum.

d. Don't post anything hateful — including targeting race, class, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, weight, or disability in a disrespectful way.

e. Don't create a screen name to hide your identity while you are violating our guidelines.

f. Don't post or link to inappropriate content. Inappropriate content is anything The Get A Life Campaign deems obscene or vulgar, including graphic images or stories.

g. Don't post anything you don't have the right to publish or violate any copyright or other proprietary rights in your posts. That includes excerpting published articles without the author or owner's permission.

h. Don't transfer issues or posts from one message board to another with the intention of drawing negative attention to the post. Don't quote someone else's post from another board without that person's permission. Please don't direct people to controversial or problematic threads on other boards.

i. Don't "hit and run." Please don't go to a board where you don't ordinarily post simply to point out the wrongness of another poster or group's actions, beliefs, or comments.

j. Don't use all capital letters in your chat or message board postings (it means you’re shouting)

k. Don't post the same message more than once on a message board or on multiple boards.

l. Don't "flood." This includes repeatedly "bumping" a thread, disrupting an online chat event by entering the same phrase over and over again, or otherwise using up bandwidth.

m. Don't post on behalf of a banned member. If you do this, you may be banned without notice or warning.

Violations of the forum guidelines

a. If you violate the Get A Life Campaign message board guidelines, you will be contacted individually by forum staff. Your actions may result in a warning, a one-month suspension, or permanent banning from participation in our forum. We do not publicly discuss or announce warnings, suspensions, or bannings.

b. Banning is done at the forum staff's discretion and is the result of our sole determination of a member's demonstrated inability or disinclination to follow our guidelines. We reserve the right to ban any member at any time for any reason, with or without warning.

c. If a thread that contains a violation of these guidelines has information that's useful to the original poster or other members of the site, it may be edited or locked. However, if in our sole judgment a thread was created for the purpose of violating the guidelines, violates enough guidelines to be irredeemable, or contains no otherwise useful information, it may be removed.

d. We can't always monitor all posts on the site. If you see a message you believe violates our guidelines, please contact us at forums@getalifecampaign.com.

Responsibilities and rights

a. Please bear in mind that all of the material you read in our forum areas comes from other members. Because our forum is very large, The Get A Life Campaign doesn't monitor or verify all the information posted by our members. The comments, opinions, and statements posted on our message boards and chats don't necessarily reflect the views of The Get A Life Campaign. The information posted on our boards and chats, including advice and opinions, is the responsibility of those members who create the posts.

b. The Get A Life Campaign is not responsible for the accuracy of posts and is not liable for any damage or loss that may result from your reliance on what other members have said. If you believe that you have an emergency of any kind, please contact your healthcare provider or dial 911 or your local emergency number for assistance.

c. All The Get A Life Campaign communications, including chat and message board posts, are public and not private communications. The Get A Life Campaign has the right to modify and publish, both on our site and in other media, any information you post in our forum areas. Please note that the material you post may be indexed by search engines such as Yahoo and Google.

d. Forum staff and volunteer hosts may use your membership e-mail to contact you regarding your messages in our forum. You're responsible for keeping your e-mail address updated. Failure to keep your e-mail address updated may result in your being banned until we can confirm that you have a valid e-mail address associated with your Get A Life Campaign membership.

Privacy

a. Never provide your password, telephone numbers, or home address to anyone online. Be very careful about responding to solicitations for interviews or research. Note, however, that The Get A Life Campaign editors might invite you to respond to such solicitations from time to time.

b. Never divulge any private or personal information about another person online. That includes the person's real name or address, e-mail address, and any other personal information that the person has not asked you to make public. Don't forward or post private messages that someone has sent to you unless you have his or her permission. Only send e-mail to another Get A Life Campaign member if he or she has given you express permission. Please don't solicit other members' personal information.

Screen names

a. Choose a screen name that's in good taste. If you select a screen name that we deem vulgar or obscene or that misrepresents you to other members, we'll ask you to change your name.

b. Anyone who tries to impersonate any other person or entity, including a healthcare professional or a Get A Life Campaign staff member, writer, expert, host, or other user — or who creates a screen name in order to hide her identity while violating our guidelines — will be banned immediately, permanently, and without notice.
