"Defining " the eyes of soul - 2007/06/21 16:21 Help! Am I in danger of forgetting my roots and losing my “soul”? Or, is it more that I have grown weary of repetitive rap lyrics and yearn for something more to unwind to? I’m referencing statements in the following article posted on Black America Web (http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/entertainment/blackmusicmonth/blueeyedsoul621).

While I don’t agree that “blue-eyed soul” doesn’t have curse words (someone didn’t listen to the WHOLE Robin Thicke CD), or that NO white artist will be able to attain the greatness of black jazz artists (What about Guy Lombardo…Louis Armstrong’s inspiration?), I am left to contemplate the impact that white artists have had on modern music.

I was shopping at Ann Taylor yesterday and noted AGAIN that they have Remy Shand’s “The Way that I Feel” on their in-store music track. I was looking for clothes, tapping my feet and wondering when I was going to add the cd back in my rotation. . Is the allure that they are white, or is it more that the music JUST SOUNDS GOOD?!

Your thoughts?
